I used to enjoy eating there also in the early to late eighties , i knew a gentle soul there named chrysanthos who was a partner the man was one of a kind he brightened my day every time i walked in he greeted everyone ever since he left the place has never been the same.
This place has adequate food (much like a diner) but we got HORRID service this evening & will not return. Our waiter took a long time getting us drinks (moderate crowd) & once some other table arrived, completely ignored us. My husband looked him dead in the eye at one point & he turned and walked the other way--certainly not the way to get a good tip. We had to get someone else to bring us the check!!!
Added to the fact that when we ordered a dish that's supposed to come with bread & not getting the bread on two separate visits, there's really no reason for us to return.
I remember coming here after school in the early late 80's and early 90's when the food was great! I went there recently and they changed the whole place, the decor is a bore now and although the menu pretty much looks the same with a few add ons, the food is no longer great. This used to be a great place to have a burger, fries and shake but nowadays their food has lost their touch. They probably changed owners or something but they need to bring this place back up to par.
Not a bad place to drop into. They do have some collosal burgers and tasty steak fries. I had no room for dessert. Very interesting menu and the prices wern't bad. Not a bad place for a quick eat and it's not too far from Union Square and some interesting shops. Very clean, pleased with the server. Check it out for quick eats in a sit down atmosphere.
