Back in 2001, Jeremy Merrin was looking for a new, entrepreneurial concept. He loves Latin cooking and frequented local Cuban restaurants. After seeing the popularity of many local Cuban restaurants, he began to think about a concept where people could get big plates of rice and beans for reasonable prices. However, he knew nothing about the restaurant business. After extensive interviewing, Jeremy met with Arlene Spiegel, a restaurant consultant and former restaurant owner. Together, they decided that there is a great opportunity in Cuban cuisine and dedicated the next nine months to creating a restaurant plan that had the best possible chance for success.
I visited NYC with my sister and brother-in-law last summer. We were just sight seeing, but after a while we were all a little hungry. For a while we were considering Olive Garden or something closer to their home in New Jersey. Then, we decided to stop into this little Cuban restaurant we'd walked by earlier. I'm so glad we did.
It was pretty busy, being a Saturday night and all, and it took a little while to get service. However, we couldn't have been happier with out meals - well, my meal. They ate appetizers and I order the Pernil Asado. It was so good that they were eating my food.
The place is a little cramped, but overall, I'd recommend it to anyone near the area.
Well as we all can c I'm a big girl. I LOVE cooking and I LOVE 2 eat Prior 2 visiting HC, I had never eaten or as much as tasted Chicken Chowder. After eating @ this restaurant I eat Chicken Corn Chowder now but only frm this restaurant of course. Everything is well seasoned- not salty but seasoned the way I cook- and its good; the menu has stuff like mango chicken, honey glazed salmon oh and their steak is sooooooooooooooooooooooooooo good I have no words, it's almost as good as mine. Their salads are better than Olive Garden's (my opinion). The food is just so good, the ambience is kinda like a family or a village. Everyone there is on a first name basis with their regulars and it was very warm and inviting. OMG the women that work there are very beautiful (I'm secure within myself to make that comment; if a sister is fine then dagnabit she's fine I can admit that and not hate). You should visit. I promise you, you will not be disappointed
