My son and daughter-in-law and I went there last night. It was fabulous. I don't know what these other reviews are talking about. The manager was nothing but gracious and the portion size - I don't know what they are talking about. We had to take food home and while we were waiting to be seated not one person left without a take home bag. Are they sure they went to this Rivoli's? They couldn't have been at the same restaurant that we went to. Great - I give it 5 stars!
Six of us went there for dinner on 5/1/11. I made 4:30 reservations the day before. About an hour later I received a call from them asking if we could change our reservations to 5:15. No problem I said. We got seated. They took our order. Two of us ordered a veal dish. Veal parm & the parm sampler. The waitress came back & said the parm sampler could not be ordered. There was NO veal. So we asked if shrimp could be substituted...she had to check with the manager. The blonde manager came to our table & was so nasty trying to explain why she couldn't substitute anything & that there was no veal left. ALL veal dishes were now off the menue! So two of us had to reorder. I guess it's possible to run out of veal so early in the evening but the manager was so RUDE & NASTY about it I don't think the six of us will ever go back there again. We felt so bad for our server. She didn't know where to go!
Went there for dinner last night with my husband for our anniversary and were so disappointed especially since we have been going there for years. The portion size for both our meals were so small and we finished them completely. His chicken was dry. And to top it off our waitress disappeared after taking our food order and no one even came back to check to see how the food was, if we needed anything. We finished our food with empty glasses. Server took our water glasses after they brought us our drinks so we didn't even have water to wash down our food. The hostess came over to offer and show us the dessert tray and some one else brought out dessert. Very disappointed and very unlikely we will be going back.
My fiance and I love this place! They have incredible food and the portion size is huge. It is a friendly atmosphere. I don't know what some of the other reviews are complaining about but it is an excellent place to dine!
Well, well, well tried Rivoli's tonight for dinner. Thank goodness we had a coupon. Both our dishes were dull. I mine I could only taste the mozzarella cheese and it was drowning in either the or oil. The shrimp were tough (over cooked). There were plenty of garlic slices that had no flavor. Both dishes were VERY large. If it had been good, would have saved it for tomorrow. It went to the garbage. What a shame.
Wise up, Rivoli's: quantity does not trump quality. I just finished a generously-portioned dinner (Tom's Treasure) and it was among the most mediocre meals I can ever recall consuming. My food -- quite literally -- had next to NO taste. And, unfortunately, this mirrors my last dining experience, several years ago, at Rivoli's. The pasta was cheap and rubbery, the pepperoni was without taste as was the sauce. On the plus side, the bread was quite good. I concur with many of the other reviewers: Rivoli's stinks.
