White House Sub Shop
Since World War II, this sub shop has been a favorite sandwich joint for locals. It may be just a little place, but it is filled with character and history. A whole sandwich is 3 feet long and the rolls are baked fresh everyday, from Formica Brothers Bakery (just across the street). These sandwich artists really know what they are doingjust order the White House Special and you'll see what all the rave is about.
Awesome subs in the same cool little shop that my parents ate at more than 55 years ago. You will never look at the likes of Subway or Blimpy the same...there simply is no comparison. Order ahead, and when you get a busy signal, keep trying. There is a reason that they're busy.
It's all about the bread, the best bread I've ever had to be apart of a sub. In NC you just can't find a sub that isn't over powered by the bread nor can you find a sub that doesn't get soggy if you use oil and vinegar.
If you're ever in Atlantic City, I suggest you eat at White House Sub Shop on Artic Ave. It is such a fantastic place to go, not only for the food but the atmosphere is key. There's nothing like watching the guys behind the counter cooking the cheesesteaks and making the hoagies. The walls are covered in pictures of famous acotrs, singers, etc who have all had the White House Special. It's a small place with maybe 5 booths but eat in the street of u have to.. Just eat there it will be worth it.
Living in South Africa for 5 years. One of the last things we did before leaving US was lunch @ the White House. Life is good here, but one of the few things I miss are WH subs. I actually have dreams about Italian Hoagies. PLease post some pictures so we can at least look at one!
White House Subs are the best I've ever had.
The ITALIAN SUB...I was never fond of certain lunch meats, however, I have never had anything like this.
White House Subs will package them for travel:
Dry--meats and cheeses
Dry to Travel---meats and cheese on bread and the extras packaged separately.
The bread is unbelievable.
Call ahead or stand in line, it's worth the wait.
Remember your sitting in a tiny sub storefront that the most famous people in the country/world have visited.
Without question the best sandwich I have ever had. The bread is what makes it so good. The service is great too, they move very fast for the volume of people that walk in their shop everyday. A lot of people think that they are rude, they are not rude, they are busy and trying to get you in and out of there as quickly as possible.
