Our family, including our sons aged 7 and 9, had a Saturday night treat at Mexico in AC on 10/13/07. It was perfect in every respect. When Mexico first opened in the mid-90s, we lived across the street and ate there often. The food was always plentiful, delicious, and reasonably priced. It's still the same today. The owner, Marcos, warmly greets customers at the door. Even when the place is very busy, he takes the time to make people feel at home. Our server was prompt and observant. Never were the water or iced tea glasses empty or the dishes from the last course uncollected. The menu was filled with various dishes authentically prepared in the manner of Marcos' childhood home state of Oaxaca, in southwestern Mexico. My favorites are the dishes served with chocolate mole although this Saturday, I opted for the Enchiladas Zuisas. The enchiladas were filled with torn strips of fresh chicken breast, covered with Oaxaca cheese and splashed with a green mole. The mole was light with a chilie/peppery flavor that complimented, rather than overpowered, the delicate cheese and chicken flavors. Refried beans and rice comleted the entree. The ambience of the restaurant is warm. With English and Spanish speaking customers, the wait staff switch fluidly back and forth as they serve different tables. People smile and give friendly "holas" and "hellos" to one another, giving the place a neighborhood feel which is equally welcoming to out-of-towners. When our taste buds ask for something from below the Rio Grande, Mexico in Atlantic City is where we'll go.
