Went to Pompeos this morning. Seeing as it was the day after Labor Day I would have thought that service wouldn't be a problem. But I was wrong. My wife and I were seated and waited 15 mins, in that time not one person came over and asked if we wanted coffee or offered a menu. It wasn't like it was busy. There were a total of maybe 10 people in the whole place. I was not impressed. When we walked out no one even noticed. Also not impressed with the out dated decor and dirty ceiling tiles.
The ultimate Tourist Trap. POMPEO’S. You know… An establishment with the aim of attracting tourist for their money. Ok, where do I start…? Walking into this place I reminded of a 70’s throwback and not in a good way. The hanging lights are atrocious, the seats are reminiscing of something your grandmother might have had (ugly metal frame with small vinyl cushions), and the ceiling tiles are blackened with vent dust and grease. Now the food (if you can call it that?) is basically slop with a 300% markup. How can you screw up an omelet, scrambled eggs or any other style of eggs? We’ll I’ve found the place, Pomeo’s. This observation IS NOT based on a one time visit I actually ate there three times so if it was the possibility of the cook(s) having an off day, it’s not. Hell even the French toast was so dry I could have used it as a Frisbee and God forbid you send it back the next version of the French toast was so soggy I couldn’t even cut it as it was basically mush. Now here my biggest pet peeve… COST. You are charged double and or triple the cost of what a normal breakfast should be in North Wildwood (check other nearby breakfast places, you’ll see). Not to mention (I will) refills… You know you are actually charged for every single drink refill. I’m not looking for ten extra glasses but one extra would have been nice, hell when all was said and done I surprised they didn’t charge me for the lemon wedge (barely big enough to see) they begrudgingly gave me for my water after the lady and the register shot me a look that could have killed, REALLY!?
I’ll sum it up… STAY AWAY as this place will surely start your day off on a bad note.
Additionally, those rave reviews a most likely the owners own comments. Did I mention TOURIST TRAP?
