Godmothers Restaurant, Cape May

One of the best restaurants in Cape May. Has a varied menu of mostly Italian food. The food is great and the prices are moderate. The staff is friendly and efficient.

NOT WORTH THE MONEY We just visited Godmothers last Sat night March 26th. We were 6 people had reservations and were seated immediately .The place was very quaint however is was so cold inside at 57 degrees according to the thermostat inside. We told the staff and they accidentally turn on the air instead. We had to sit there the entire time with our coats on, the heat in the place was not working. We waited a very long time for our food, actually none of the tables around us had food. They gave us bread and butter but no dipping oil as a real Italian restaurant would offer. The food was all al a carte. I ordered my meal seafood risotto $26 and was asked if I wanted soup or salad I just assumed that it came with the meal by the way the server asked, I ordered the butternut squash soup with pumpkin seeds $8, they only had one choice. The soup was very bland and I would have never chosen it if I knew I had to pay extra for it. The entrees were delicious however, the portions were small. We even ordered the chocolate lava cake for $8 and it was a mini cupcake with 1 little scoop of ice cream and a little whipped cream it was not worth the money. We will never go there again not only did we freeze our butts off, waited too long for our food we over paid for very small portions.

Been there many times. On recent visit however the food seems to be going a bit downhill. My chicken was dry and precooked it seemed. I am not sure if this is due to the winter and lack of traffic or if it was just an off night. The food is usually very good and the service is outstanding. Their sauce is top notch. Be sure to make reservations during peak season as the place is small.

This place is always busy, so the wait is long. They make homemade pastas which are good, but not extraordinary. In my opinion it's not worth the wait.

Not worth the wait in my opinion. We went once and not only did we wait long, but the waitresses were very rude and seemed to give you an attitude. I wouldn't go back.

On our first visit to Cape May, we stumbled across this restaurant. The food was excellent, the service was great. I would recommend this to anybody visiting this area. (In fact, I have sent them friends and family that come away with the same impression.)

CarolP1036808I went there once and I will never go back. After the Antipasti, the rest of the food was horrible. As as Italian, I was ashamed of this representation of Italian food. The owner should have stayed at Union Park where the food was excellent.

This is a quaint family style Italian restaurant. A great option for those traveling in Cape May with children who may find the up scale restaurants costly or unwelcoming. Slightly off the main section of town, Godmother's is still easily accessible and offers good food and a reasonable price.

Busy restaurant, always a wait. Homemade pastas, located near the mall. Some people wouldn't go anywhere else. Not sure it's worth the wait. Go at off hours.

established restaurant with large following. great Italian food with something for everyone including children.
