A winding slate path through overhanging vines and tropical foliage leads to the historic 1840 Carriage house. Slowly spinning ceiling fans stir the aromas of French-New Orleans accented cooking and fresh seafood and steaks grilling over mesquite. Envision yourself in New Orleans or Key West. Dining in the canopied garden, or on the candlelit veranda, the dream continues with the exotic cuisine of internationally acclaimed Chef Henry Sing Cheng, whose original creations include local-caught tuna, swordfish and mahi-mahi in fabulous sauces, elaborate entrees of local shellfish & lobster, and the justly famous smoked, grilled and blackened steaks and prime rib. Although the food was excellent, the hr in a half we waited for the food was a little too much.

The food is always terrific here. The atmosphere leaves something to be desired. The quaint old Victorian is overshadowed by the huge crowds they pack into the place, so it is really hard to notice much about the decor. The noise level matches the large crowd size. Service is good but always seems a bit rushed. You have to go for the food though, among the best in Cape May.

410 Bank Street writes on the Open Table web site... A winding slate path through overhanging vines and tropical foliage leads to the historic 1840 Carriage house... But once inside there are more tables stuffed inside then fit, inside is a DUMP! No local food, including seafood, way over rated, way over priced, overcooked bad food, bad service, very noisy inside, HORRIBLE, STAY AWAY!

This longstanding Cape May culinary star has got it's mojo back after a spell of lackluster food/service. The waiter this time was very knowledgeable as he worked in the kitchen several days a week. They still do not tell you $$ of specials. The spacing is tight and you can easily partake in your neighbors conversation. Try any of the new orleans-influenced dishes and you won't be disappointed.

Wonderful. The food was excellent.The tuna with the black bean sauce is out of this world. The service was great.I will be dinning there more often this summer.

By far the best restaurant experience I've ever had. When I walked in i was very much impressed by the sophisticated atmosphere and the quick service. I ordered the Lobster Bisque, which was a bit too spicy but otherwise delicious. The Rack of Lamb was the best I've ever had. Tender and full of flavor. Even though I was satisfied and full, I had to try the White Chocolate Cheesecake, and I was glad I did. Excellent restaurant.

We were very disappointed with the food at 410 Bank Street. It was very ordinary and my salmon which was described as wild had neither the color nor texture of wild-caught and it was served over a too-deep pool of sauce. The experience was further diminished by the cutesey attitude of the wait staff. I couldn't wait to get out of there.

Probably one of the most overrated restaurants I have ever been in. For the price service is not where it should be and the food is no longer creative. Save your money and eat somewhere else twice. Remember price is without wine as its a BYO. Add the price of your wine and its totally ridiculous.

Overrated, but still good

This is a very good restaurant--the food is delicious and if you go here, you will thoroughly enjoy your meal. I don't think it's the best restaurant in Cape My, however. It's extremely pricey, but again, the food is fab, and the atmosphere is quaint. That being said, the owner of this place (with whom I unfortunately have had an acquaintance) is a complete clown; another egotistical jerk who thinks that the entirety of Cape May revolves around him and his just as annoying family. It's a shame that a restaurant like this is owned by such a person. If you go, then at least you can support his chef and his crew.
