Our recent visit was very dissapointing. Our order was the Prime Rib Special. Our meal came with the meat having a gray color with a little bit of pink. The cut was a nice thickness, had no flavor it was dry and it seemed as though it was boiled or microwaved. The Au Jus tasted like something out of a can. The garlic mashed potatoes forgot the seasoning as well. Thank goodness for the salad bar! This was our second visit of poor food. It will be our last. Get a new chef! This WAS a really nice family restaurant with good value
On 8 Aug I had dinner and with my father in the Prospectors night club. Later on in the evening when the bill arrived it was abnormally high. We noticed an over charge for drinks, 6 beers vs. only 3 that we consumed. We brought this to the attention to the manager Richie, he discussed it with the waitress and then decided to credit us the amount for the 3 over charged beers. The following Friday, 15 Aug my father returned to Prospectors, the same manager denied my father entry and told him “you owe me for 3 beers”. My father explained it wasn’t about the money just the principal of paying for something that he didn’t consume. My father paid for the beers, than the manager Richie said “you’re not coming in tonight and I’ll think about letting you in some time in the future”.
On 21 Aug I called Prospectors to speak with the owner Jack Clowar, I was told he was unavailable and would return my call. I never received a call back and tried multiple times to contact him with no success until today 4 Sep. I spoke with Mr. Clowar and explained the situation, he stated that he spoke with his waitress (who he admitted was a new employee) and had to side with his waitress. He offered no solution to my situation and proceeded to explain that “country music people” were very hard to deal with and he didn’t think it was worth keeping the night club open anymore. I explained that I wanted an apology from his manager and to be reimbursed for the beers that my father paid for. Mr. Clowar said he was not going to accommodate me and that the conversation was over, then Mr. Clowar hung up the phone. My family and I have been patrons of Prospectors for many years and have never had a problem with anyone their patron or employee. I feel we were treated very rudely and unfair, it is unacceptable for any establishment to treat customers in such a way and action needs to be taken to prevent this from happening to other patrons.
This is a country western type of place. Their food is excellent, service is great. Live music on the weekends with lots of line dancing. They even have classes during the week I believe. It's not a rowdy kind of place but still busy. Definitely worth a visit!
