Went there for restaurant week. We called day of for a reservation for two and the earliest was 8:30. Figured that was a good sign. Got there and sat promptly. The place is a little on the small side, but I didn't see upstairs. The problem is it's also a little noisy too. The food was very good. I got the Pork & Leek dumplings and they were very well done and accompanied by a nice spicy dipping sauce. Sublime. Wifey had a gouda/chicken crostini concoction. It was good too. Had the crab bisque. Creamy, filled with crab, outrageous as my wife said. Dinner was blue cheese and pepper stuffed shrimp. Very tasty all things considered. Desert was the rum cake and berries. Disappointed the berries were frozen, but it is winter. The pistachio crusted brownie is a much better choice. The only gripe I had was perhaps our server was a little inexperienced. We got our food out in a different order which is no big deal, but it may have affected the timing of our main course too. We had it at the table before we were half finished with our appetizer's. The waiter got a little flumoxed and offered to take them back to the kitchen (to sit under a heat lamp?), but I told him to just leave them at the table. While it did get a little cold, it was still decent. We did feel rushed too. The table next to us though seemed to be accomodated much better. We did talk to management and they were understanding. We'll go back again to make sure it just wasn't a bad night. The place has great food, the service was good, the only problem seemed to be a lack of coordination/communication with the kitchen and the front of the house, but I think it was more particular to one server and not the philosophy of the restaurant.
The food was very good - I had the blackened tuna. Service was outstanding - not hovering, but taking care of everything. Quiet service taking care of everything.
I also really enjoyed the raw clam appetizer.
All in all, I felt we got a high quality meal for about $30 less than I would have expected to pay.
It's a BYOB, which helps to hold down costs, I think.
I have never been disapointed with a meal that I have eaten at Little Tuna. I have been going there for dinner since Marcus opened 4 or 5 years ago. I have ordered most of the menu and I can not say enough good things about it. Every meal is better than the last. I have recomended Little Tuna to people I work with and they still go and rave about to me as well. Maarcus does a great job on every dish that is brought out of the kitchen.
It is a BYOB. I suggest you make reservations.
where so i start.... the soup was cold and watery (chowder had no chunks in it) the utensils were ALL dirty, our water glasses had old broccoli floating in them, the waitress was very rude and only came to our table 3 times throughout our meal, order was wrong, then came out wrong again, the check was wrong, and finally the manager at the end of all this seemed high and frankly didn't even care about any of it. (plus they have paper as a tablecloth and walked out with a few paper cuts while trying to eat...ouch)
After seeing the menu and hearing the great reviews, I was expecting something great. My wife and I both got different types of tuna. First, people who showed up 5 minutes after us got served 5 minutes before us. And the waiter was just not attentive to us at all. Mind you, we arrived at 5 so we were the second table seated. Next, the tuna and vegetables and potatoes come out. Each item is on its own plain white dish. And the presentation on the plate looked like I did it. So, bad plating, plain white plates, and the table was small so there was no room with 6 plates, 2 water glasses, and a bread basket. Well, at least the tuna will be awesome, right? It is called the Little Tuna. Wrong. Very very average tuna. Given the prices are a bit above average, this was not what we were expecting. The highlight of the meal was my crab bisque. That was pretty good. But, overall, not a good experience, average but overpriced food, and a bad waitstaff. Avoid!
