Steak 38 Cafe, Cherry Hill

Last night we had the pleasure of visiting Steak 38 for the second time. We discovered that our first visit was not a fluke and that this place is a sleeper. Perhaps I really shouldn t write this review to insure that the place isn t mobbed and I will be able to get a table, but I can t help but want to spread the word. On my first visit I had the Lobster Ravioli which I thought were to die for. This visit I enjoyed the Tilapia that was cooked to perfection. My girlfriend had Prime Rib on both visits and it was cooked to order, juicy, and seasoned to perfection. I m beginning to think that this place can do no wrong. If you do go you should request Daphne to be your server as we were fortunate enough to draw her on both visits and she was an absolute delight; personable, professional, attentive, efficient....I think you get the idea. The next time we go I m going to allow her to select the dish that I will enjoy for dinner...stay tuned.

Had a dinner reservation for 7pm 6-22-12. Waited for 30 min and complained to maitre d . Was still not seated after 45 min. Left in total disgust. Worst restaurant experience I ve ever had.

The quality of food here has really changed. I had a steak and it was full of fat I could'nt even eat it. There used to be a matre-de that was very attentive when we walked in and asked if we had a reservation and told us there would be a little wait. He asked if we would like to have a drink at the bar until our table was ready. We really didn't have to wait that long at all. I really don't think I will return again any time soon.

The only thing better than the food was the service.

I went for a party. We all ordered steak. They were all excellent. Can't speak for anything else on the menu but if you want steak this is probably the best place outside of Philly to get it. The dining room is very dark and cramped and it definitely caters to the older crowd. But, definitely a red meat gem in South Jersey.

My experience at this establishment was exceptional from start to finish. I was greeted by the Matradee with a smile who had a pleasant personality. We asked if we could have a cocktail at the bar before being seated, the Matradee assured us that he would seat us when we were ready. We were seated promptly. Service was excellent and our waitress was very attentive. When the meals were served the Matradee came over to the table and asked how everything was. Our meal was superb, and the dessert which was bananas foster flambed tableside was the best. The overall dinning experience was exceptional. I will return with friends and family to share the delicious meals and pleasant atmosphere. Ruth Tiernan

the food was okay, but not worth what you pay. the staff is horrible, and enough to ruin the entire experience. we were treated poorly by the matradee, and the sat next to the bathroom, after they started seating other people ahead of me. I had made a reservation, and walk-ins were being seated first, and at nicer tables. (i only know this because i saw the reservation book, and the people sat before us showed up 15 minutes after us.) I am sure if i was 50, there would not have been a problem getting a seat, but unfortunately i am under 30, and was treated like a child. I was there for my boyfriends birthday, and they ruined the experience by being so rude! i was hoping the food would make up for the first experience, but it didn't live up to what i have heard. It was very unfortunate. i will definitely NOT go there again! I have had better experiences at Pizza parlors (comparable food for a lot less $ too). Don't waist your time going to this establishment. i recommend going a mile further down 38, and check out the Pub. Better staff, better food, more to drink, better experience overall!

Bad food, uneducated wait staff, poor beer selection. Highly recommend choosing somewhere else.

Outstanding food. Recommended it to a family member and they called to thank us for the recommendation. Doesnt look like much from the outside which is what makes it a hidden secret.
