I figured I would write a review since there haven't been any new ones for Beawon in a while. I've been going here for probably about eight or nine years and never once had a bad experience. Though they've changed their owners many many times and some I liked more than others, the same quality of food stays. From the moment you step in, and the sizzling kalbi and bulgogi that they grill at your table, enters your nostrils, you are left drooling, couting down the seconds until you get to sit down and enjoy the same delicious meat. Make no mistake: this is the ultimate place to go for Korean BBQ in Cherry Hill. Their vegetarian plates and sushi? Just as delicious!
I used to live in S. Korea so when I heard of this restaurant I was excited. I thought the food was good, especially the bulgogi, as well as the side dishes. It reminded me of my time in Korea.. I have only been there once but would definitely like to return.
I went to Beawon with a friend for dinner this evening. It was our first visit to this restaurant but both of us are well acquainted with Korean food each having served military tours of duty in that country. The food was very tasty--especially the Kimchi and various condiment dishes which accompanied the meal. In addition to our entree, we split a sushi roll which was also good (and typical of what you'd get at most any sushi bar). Service was mediocre; the staff waited until they were called over by the novel door bell button on each table and often had to be asked twice to fulfill a request. I thought the prices were a little high, but the restaurant has a nice enough ambiance to warrant the upscale pricing. Overall, we had a nice dining experience and may return someday but I do not see this as becoming a mainstay for myself.
The day visited Beawons was on the 13th of May.This was our 4th time back, and it was the best ever. The waitress was very helpful as she knew the menu, she was very attentive to detail as well as to following up. She refilled the side dishes plus extras eagarly as well as ensuring we had what we needed to fulfill our dining expectations. The a/c was on which made the dining area very enjoyable. The hospitality was excellent.
The foods we ordered were, Tofu Terriaki an (Appeitizer) Orange Chicken main dish, (Spicy) Fish Stew #34 (Spicy) on the menu as a main dish and hot tea. She brought white rice of which is common.Everything was prepared to perfection and with pride in the kitchen. The foods blended very well together, with the Kim-chi being number one. All foods were brought out in a timely fashion and very well presented.
The prices are excellent. As for the foods that we ate and we do eat out often, so we know that this is an excellent value. You will not feel cheated, ever.
Do you need to shop for foods of many. When you leave the restaurant, right bleow the restaurant is a Korean Food Store. EXCELLENT! EXCELLENT. If you want it, they have it.
You or your family or friends should really enjoy your experience as we did as we shall come back again. Good food and service are bring for a very enjoyable experience.
Enjoy your meal and evening at Beawons.
I've only been to this place twice, but I feel like I'm back in LA whenever I go to this restaurant. The food is just as good as any place in Koreatown and the folks are totally friendly. The only knock against the restaurant is the lack of a liquor license.
Being Korean, this definitely ranks as great Korean food outside of a Korean home! It features full gas fire pits for bbq in most tables. Unfortunately this brings the rating down by 1 and keeps it from being 5 stars. Wood would have been better. You get the standard kimchee dishes which are always fresh and excellent. The bulgogi and galhbi are great. A touch too sweet. Mondoo soup is supurb. Bi bam bop is my wife's favorite dish which I usually get for lunch. If you order bbq for 1 they will cook it in the back and is subpar. Tastes like they do it in a fry pan instead of over a fire. Other dishes including sushi, chapcha are all above average. Overall, an excellent restaurant that could improve by moving the bbq to wood.
