HORRIBLE HORRIBLE....The pizza was good..but Kinchleys and Nellies is much better. We ate at the bar (as the hostess suggested as there was a large kid party in the back). The bartender was confused and always in a huff - yelling or correcting the wait staff....dont understand it. The Mountain House in NY is or was great years ago..not sure about this decor either....feels like a diner but should represent a pizza place....jsut awful....never go back for sure.
I went on a business lunch and the staff was very nice and attentive. I ordered the black olive pizza and it was very good and pretty inexpensive. In fact the whole menu had something to please everybody at very reasonable prices. I would certainly return here.
We went here once and we will never go back. The food was terrible and the service was slow. Not only that but we had our 4 year old with us and the manager starts yelling at his staff in front of us. He was dropping the F bomb right and left. Mind you there are probably 4 or 5 other tables with young children at them also. The waitresses had to pull him into the kitchen and we could still hear him. Not very business like. This is one restaurant I will never go back to!!!
The Mountain House in Westwood is a fairly large space and the tag line on the entry way door claims to be the home of the brick oven pizza. Upon entry you can tell that the décor was hardly a consideration and the aim was not to impress one with ambiance. Picture picnic style table cloths and local sports team merchandise strewn about the walls.
The menu was everyday Americana foods. We ordered a hamburger and a pizza from a waitress who was unfriendly and weathered. The food came out quickly and was a poor display of restaurant food. It was both impressive and depressing that someone owns this business and is willing to sell this product to there customers. It’s what you might expect if you ordered food from a minor league hockey rink somewhere in the eastern bloc.
I’ll start with the hamburger, it was served on an English muffin, it was described as such, but instead of that being a kitschy element it was a disappointment. When I read that the burger was served on an English muffin, I foolishly pictured a larger, perhaps homemade style English muffin…instead the burger was served literally on a store bought English muffin. The burger meat I would bet was also a store bought patty, likely frozen. It was not good, and ultimately inedible. The Pizza was small, the size of a typical grocery store thin crust frozen pizza. I couldn’t tell if it had been heated in a brick oven, I can say for certainty that it wasn’t ‘baked’ in a brick oven as this clearly seemed like a frozen pizza. It was awful. I would never eat there again, and am writing this review as a warning to you, to simply save your money, and buy your own pre-made food in the super market to eat at home or in a park…you’ll be better off.
The food is average and the desserts are purchased from off the premises. Last time I was there with friends, the staff had a fistfight in the parking lot as we walked out. VERY CLASSY!!!! I was so embarrassed for bringing friends here. After hours music and dancing brings out the drunk and sleazy crowd. Would not advise going here, I never will be back.
Tuscany Trattoria is a great place to go for great homeade Italian food. The service is wonderful and the owners make you feel like your family. The Italian music on Saturday nights makes me feel like I'm with family dancing to all kinds of music especially italian music.
