The food, service and atmosphere were all terrific. This is a somewhat upscale restaurant so if people where expecting a lot of inexpensive menu options then maybe they would be disappointed. There was a very large bar which was jammed packed. They also offered a special sushi menu. I ordered the special of the blackened swordfish special with black bean/corn succotash and swiss chard. The swordfish was thick, juicy and very succulent. The sides were perfect compliments. My husband order the classic fish and chips. The batter was light, crispy and quite flavorful. There were several thick cut pieces of tender cod and he was very satisfied. The interior was a comtemporary nautical theme with soft music playing in the background. Our waiter was courteous, knowledgeable and very attentive. We had a wonderful time and will definitely come again.
I am sorry to say the food is not good. When you specialize in something that specialty should blow you away. The staff is not attentive either. I have tried twice, and food is not good. To top it off on my last visit there were feces on the door handle as I was leaving.
I probably had the very worst restaurant experience here that I've ever had.
My husband and I entered the restaurant at approx. 1pm on a Saturday. The place was about 1/4 full, many open tables, but we had to wait about 25 minutes to be seated (which was not a problem at all).
Our waitress took about 15 minutes to even get to our table and give us menus and water. She took about another 20 minutes to come back and take our food order. Takes our food orders without asking if we'd like anything to drink, and begins to walk away. We call her back, and tell her we'd like 2 coffees.
We wait. And wait. About 20 minutes later, our water glasses are empty, we still haven't received our coffees, no waitress in site. I had to stand up and look around in order for her to see me and come over. She tells us that she had to put another pot of coffee on, she'll be back in a minute. Waitress again disappears. I see other waitresses going to the coffee urns and getting their customers coffees, but our waitress remains nowhere to be found. Finally, after waiting at the table for about 45 minutes, and still not even being served so much as a cup of coffee, we walked out. We informed the hostess to cancel our order, as we hadn't been served anything. And the funny thing is, as soon as we put our jackets on and started heading for the door....BAM! there's the waitress. I heard her loudly wailing to the hostess as we walked out that she'd already put our food orders in. That's wonderful, but in 45 minutes time, you can't even pour two lousy cups of coffee???
I'd say that this place has very, VERY poorly trained employees. It wasn't the restaurant's fault per se, but we got the worst waitress in the history of mankind. They really need to supervise their help a little bit better, because I can easily see them losing a lot of customers over this one dingbat alone.
We went to 10 Clams instead, were seated immediately, and our food was on our table in less than 15 minutes.
How many ways can fish be prepared? Loads if you go here. The menu is outstanding and if you're a seafood lover and enjoy the tatse of grilled, seared, broiled, baked or poached fish it's all here.
The sushi is great and for those of you who like raw bars, I recommend the oyster sampler plate. Eight or more oysters on the halfshell nestled in a bed of crushed ice, each oyster a different type and pooled from a different location in the Sound. served with vinegar sauces and hot sauces on the side but eat with alittle lemon to experience the different flavor of each oyster.
very reasonably priced.
Indeed, grab a pole and shoot on down to Go Fish.
Incredible service, presentation, as well as cuisine (some of the best seaweed salad I have EVER had)...not to mention resonable prices. Well worth the trip.
Service was terrible. Waiter spoke to us on his way by, he was more interested in socializing in the sushi bar. Chowder was full of potatoes with a hint of clam and little flavor. Cod could have been cooked a touch more and some flavor would have been nice. Green beans were good.
Our favorite Sushi restaurant is Go Fish. Although its a bit pricey, the quality of the sushi is always top notch, fresh and the service is wonderful. Our favorite servers are Libby, Jen and Tim who cater to our every needs and are very knowledgeable about the menu and sushi.
I suggest you get to sushi about 6pm on a weekend if you dont want to wait in line.
All in all a great restaurant for fish, sushi and even non fish entrees. Plus their wine list is always changing and offering creative and unique wines to sample.
Being a local of the area, I've eaten at Go Fish a number of times. The food is fantastic, and the atmosphere is great. However, the last time I went to eat there, I had an awful experience. I called three days ahead of time to make a reservation for our anniversary, and dialed the number to the kitchen rather than the dining room (this could be a popular mistake; the kitchen is listed first in the yellow pages). I was greeted by an unpleasant individual who proceeded to argue with the wait staff, and told me to dial the other number. I dialed the other number, and put my name on a list for 9:15 for dinner. We showed up for our dinner, and were told upon our arrival that the kitchen was closed! I'll probably never eat there again because they ruined our anniversary.
