Rosies is (more or less) recognized and remembered because of their perfect location. Right on route 7. Easy to find and plenty of parking. They are a family style restaurant that offers the basic down to earth menu choices.
The only thing with Rosie's is they seem to be geared for the local senior citizens or older clientele because the portions are not as plentiful as one would expect. Especially when it come to meat portions.
Rosie's is a nice restaurant no doubt and I continue to visit there but not because I expect larger portions but because there is nowhere else to go that is conveniently near the motels on route 7.
I do know that if anyone has had the experience of traveling like I have, they'd soon realize there are plenty of restaurants out there that offer so much more for less $. It's just that there is no competition for Rosie;s to worry about so naturally you pay more for less food.
We have been to Rosie's serveral time in the past over the years since they first opened But this was not what one would expect. I ordered meat loaf with mashed potatos, There were more peas than meat and the peas weren't cooked and one rolled down my throat and as I was choking on it for 5 min the cashier/host asked if I was ok I couldn't say anything so he just walked back to his station then a waitress came in and closed the door to to the adjournig room so they wouldn't hear me cough ithe other room. Our waitress wasn't anywhere to be seen so I could get a glass of water. I continued to choke and finally was able to cough it up witout any help for the staff. oh yes my 90 year old Mother who we were taking out to dinner finally did get someone to bring a glass of water. my wife ordered an iced tea without lemon and she was brought one with lemon so that spoiled her beverage. when asked if everything was ok I said not really and she walked away. I figued maybe she didn't hear me or just didn't want to.Mother went to the ladies room because she was having a problem keeping food down.Wife went with her and when they got there the sink was plugged and there weren't any towels. Wife went to ask for some and they did bring some. When I paid the check I brought up the issues we had with the meal. He didn't even look up and said sorry as he took my money. don't think I will go back there as the service has gotten very poor. Rosie's used to be the best place to eat in town but not for me anymore.
While staying at Kampersville for several days my family stopped in at Rosie's daily for breakfasts and once for lunch. During our stay we received prompt service and found the waitresses to be polite. The food is reasonably priced and sized (But our family likes smaller meals.)
I just moved to VT, and finding Rosie's has made the transition all the more easier. The comfortable feeling in the dinning room and great service make it feel like home. Not to mention the great food at unbeleveable prices. Where I come, from the meals at Rosie's would be 2 to 3 times more expensive. Some of there specials look as if they should be in a 3 star restaurant.
I've been going to Rosie's for years and have always been happy with the service, last night was the exception, I don't know if they were short staffed or what's going on but the wait for food was almost an hour, my dinner was cold, my soda was pure syrup and in general it was just not the service I am used to at this restaurant. We had a fairly large party (it was a birthday celebration)and it included 4 children, in past the waitresses has brought us crackers for the kids and made sure they were happy, not last night. I'll give them another try sometime in the future but if the service does not improve it will be one more place that I will not frequent..I hope the owners are reading these reviews and will take the step to make sure their customers are happy
