I'll return but only because of the competition.
The Common Man could be so good. The service and decor is excellent. The bar serves excellent libations. The food however is uneven. For example, the Common Man serves a steak with a gorgonzola sauce. Very hip right? Well perhaps not. Anyway, remove the sauce ( I dislike gorgonzola ) and you're left with a steak of mediocre quality at best. The presentation is excellent (stuffed squash blossoms) but it is about the meat, not the sauce and not the presentation. With an average or above average quality steak, I would rate the food and the Common Man at four stars and value at three. The same is true of other entres. Service, presentation etc. on the rabbit and fish is excellent but the key ingredient, the quality of the rabbit or fish is average. The Common Man seems to have not learned that no matter how talented the cook, the chef can't overcome marginal ingredients, especially when that marginal quality ingredient is the centerpiece of the dish. We'll return again and again in part, always in hope that the Common Man has risen above serving common food and in part because it is the best place around.
