Nice place for the kids.
By ,
Mediocere food but a nice retro ambiance make this a fun place to bring the kids for a burger and some ice cream. Don't try anything too adventurous on the menu and you'll be fine. I tried the fried fish sandwich one day and was dissapointed. Bascially just another Stowe tourist trap which survives on the one time visitor but would be gone quickly if it had to depend on the locals.

I'm from Stowe, and have two young kids. The Malt Shop is their favorite place in town, and unlike most kid-friendly places I love it too. The food is straightforward, but good. Everything I've had there (burgers, cheesesteak, broiled chicken sandwich, chili) is solid, and both the fries and onion rings are outstanding. Shakes are great, too. Service is reasonably good, staff is friendly, and atmosphere is laid back and fun. Highly recommended.

Great atmosphere, my wife and I stop here every time we visit Stowe. The staff is very friendly and the food is pretty good. My wife recommends the egg creams. Will be stopping here this weekend for the 4th time.

I wandered in after seeking out 1950 s themed soda shop.I ordered half a tuna sandwich on pimpernickel and a cup of the soup of the day carrot ginger! The order arrived I look down to a small end of the loaf slices of bread smeared with crummy tuna slapped together with one slice iceburg and a soggy dill spear thrown into a plastic basket..I spoke to the Owner who upon arrival informed me that she does alot of civic duties for Stowe?? Who cared? No offer to comp the crummy lunch no sorries nada! My skimpy lunch was $6.85 my friends lunch was a bacon cheeseburger Choco Malt and French Fries burger was smaller in size Malts not up to par and little malt used..total cost for lunch $23.85 we won t ever be back! A toal Rip Off of the Public and Keep your hard earned money away fron this Tourist Trap!!!

I just love it here!

The restaurant is set in a style of the 50s. The food is very good with reasonable prices. It's really more of a luncheonette, fountain bar. Service is always good. Never had any complaints and have been coming here over 7 years.

A great great place
By ,
We thought the food was very good, especially considering its price, which is relatively less expensive than anything else in Stowe. The burgers and the fries especially were great. The atmosphere, 1950s ambiance, was lots of fun, and the kids loved it. If you do, definitely order a frappe (milkshake). I would recommend this place to anyone
