This place is really bad. If I could rate it lower than 1 star, I would.
Village Pizza is a pizza shop, but they don't have a real pizza oven. They have an electric oven with a steel conveyor track. It's like an Easy-Bake oven on a couple steroids, and these kind of ovens are notoriously bad for cooking pizza in any kind of humid weather. Especially on rainy days, the 'za comes out in a puddle of grease and water (if you ordered any vegtables for your pie). To help to compensate for this, the cook will usually turn up the temp of the oven, but that just makes it worse because your crust is overcooked on the bottom, and it's still doughy. It's basically soup on a thin, burnt, spongey noodle. When you pick up a slice, it flops down and all the sauce, cheese, etc, falls off. You basically have to eat it with a fork and knife, which is made all the more attrocious as the utensils are cheap plastic, like at a picnic, and you are eating off of even cheaper paper plates. That's right--paper plates and plastic forks, all of which goes right into the landfill. They also serve subs and salads at Village Pizza, but since they use only the cheapest available ingredients, this is little consolation. And it wouldn't be so bad if there prices were good, but they're not.
They used to be the only place in town that made deliveries, but now there are at least two other pizza shops that deliver. They do have a TV, a jukebox, and a pooltable, which is why so many teens hang there after school and on weekends. There are so many great places in Montpelier, some with pool tables, some with free entertainment, all with much better-quality, better-tasting, and healthier food, all within a couple of blocks of this place. So why would anyone want to eat at Village Pizza? It is a mystery.
