Stamford Motel, Manchester

We were hesitant to stay at the Stamford Motel based on Yahoo reviews but we did some research and found outstanding reviews on tripadvisor. com so we decided to give it a try. The room was nice, neat and clean and the hosts were very patient with us and accomodating. We will be back this summer to check out the gardens. We paid $70/night for a single queen we thought that was a great price. It was an easy trip to Bromley and town was 2 minutes away. They have great views of the mountains.

We've stayed here for years. Its been in the family for a while. I think the grandparents owned it and now the granddaughter is running it. Great views of Mt. Equinox - you can't get much better. The gardens were put in several years ago and they are simply beautiful. The pool is small but normally warm - still to die for views. The rooms are small but worth the price. Nothing fancy simple and clean - the bathrooms are small but I don't need alot while I'm away on vacation. The owners are great and very helpful. Not always around since they have have a restaurant in town. We've never had a problem. Their dogs are awesome - prob. better than the owners:) to big bullmastiff's - we just love the dogs - will keep returning - very simple - views are to die for in October. They are def. working on the place and the improvements show.

My biggest problem with the motel was the unfriendly service. Other problems included: broken screens and thus bugs, dirty carpet, no soap, shampoo & conditioner were never replaced. The location was personally convenient, nice to avoid town traffic. The gardens were also very pretty.

Sorry Stamford, but when your parents owned/operated it, the place was really super clean and reliable. You cut down too many trees, which gave ambience to the place ... gave us phone number to call you when we arrived [as you would be at your restaurant in town] and were not very hospitable. Rates were raised at least 25% over what previously was a bargain motel and NOTHING was added for the extra costs. After staying w/Gerelicks for well over 10 seasons involving 2 or 3 per year, we were very disappointed. Perhaps you can provide service in the fashion of your father-in-law. Again, sorry for being negative ... but others on the street give better value.
