The food is great. The problem I have with Pangaea is that the help turns over faster than a subway turnstile at rush hour. This only indicates that they either don't pay very well or don't treat staff like human beings. I don't like giving money to people who don't treat their help well.
My wife and I had Christmas Eve (2006) dinner at Pangaea and could not have been more pleased.
The food was excellent; well prepared and well presented. The service was impeccable! Our waitress could not have been more helpful nor pleasant and the entire staff was attentive without being obtrusive.
Pangaea is pricey BUT well worth every nickel. We were there for a little over an hour and a half; obviously not rushed but never unattended.
The atmosphere is casual elegant. We decided to dress up but it was not necessary. Original artwork adorns the walls and the lighting is dim but not so that you have to squint to see the menu.
My only nitpick is that the plates were chipped and that was noteworthy while not diminishing in any way our experience. A TOTAL PLEASURE!
