Do not waste your money or your appetites unless you are just going for a drink. Wait staff friendly but not necessarily competent. 4 person party all adults age 53-64 with an average annual income in excess of 500K

Had menus at table advertising $20 for two specials…waitress stated that it was not happening tonight in spite of the menu stating it did include Wed nights. One person ordered salmon however waitress stated they were out. Second choice was trout but once again waitress informed customer that they did not have trout even though, once again, it was on the menu. Ordered sweet potato fries because they were known for the sweet potato fries and again..You guessed it they were not serving sweet potato fries.
One person ordered a special burger (high quality and more expensive meat) and waitress stated they did not have the burger and that the menu was new and that was the reason they did not have the items as stated on the menu. All of us at this point decided a burger may be the safe way to go. This was not a good way to go. The burgers came not as ordered in terms of well, medium, mid rare, etc. All were dry and tasteless. All of our rolls were stale and not edible. YIKES!
We then focused on the fries but the fries were cold, cold.
Waitress did not ask if we wanted another drink so we did not have one. The place that we stayed serves drinks and desert so we were all set.
I strongly DO NOT RECOMMEND this place. Two years ago we had a different experience but they obviously do not, at this time, have a competent kitchen staff. This is truly a sign that the owner expects the place to operate on its own or the owner has become quite complacent. What a shame that this place continues to “rob” their customers. Stay away until they are indeed under new management especially the kitchen side of the operation.
I had a very good culinary experience at Mulligan's Restaurant on 8/16/08. The pub and dining room was packed but our waitress was prompt and helpful. I had the asparagus and shrimp quesadilla, my friend had fried oysters and we both can rave about the quality and quantity of the food. I especially enjoyed talking with the hostess, who helped me purchase one of their fine t-shirts. I am happy to promote this lively, fun and enjoyable eating establishment.
What a shame this lovely place has gone downhill very quickly. We have been coming here the past two years while our daughter attends college in Bennington. The hostess and waitresses are loud, rude and unprofessional. The atmosphere is unappealing, the front dining room is sparse with worn wooden tables and chairs that could use a good cleaning and polishing. I am sure I smelled urine on my chair, however the chair was dry, it must have soaked into the wooden chair. YUCK! The food is fair and not worth the prices. If the place was simply a bar it would be okay, but to pass itself off as a fine eating establishment, forget it! Too bad it has been allowed to deteriorate, the general manager and owner need to call a staff meeting to get the place ship shape before it is too late. Not clean, rude, obnoxious staff, so so food, high prices, do yourself a favor and drive past Mulligan's and head to The Equinox hotel for a satisfying experience. This is a prime location and a new owner would certainly turn this place around.
We decided to go to Mulligans last time we were in Manchester because we had been there the previous year and it was wonderful!! However, this experience was quite the opposite. The service was terrible, the food was scrod I ordered was undercooked on the bottom, and I received it back, barely warm, only a minute and a half after sending it back to the kitchen. The waitress never came over to make sure everything was okay, we had to ask another waitress serving the table next to ours if we needed anything. Overall it was a pricy meal that was definitley not worth it. My advice is to try the restaurants more in the town center.
Mulligans in Manchester Vermont is a pub and restaurant that has very good food and the atmospher is good , my wife and I ate there on june 7, 2008 , my wife had a ceasar salad , i had a gadren salad and idaho skins the , they weren't skimpy at all on the portions , the waitress we had could of been a wee bit better, but other than that I would recommend the next tim your in Manchester vermont and you want a bite to eat definately stop by mulligan's pub.
This restaurant at one time was quite good. It has fallen sharply in quality and service. Food is undercooked and therefore unsafe. The wait staff is rude and inattentive. I have will never eat there again with my family. It is too bad, good location, great town, horrible restaurant.
Visited Columbus weekend. First time in Manchester. Ate out 3 different nights. Mulligans was the only one that offered such great food and was very affordable. They were very busy and were such a help in accomodating our needs. Will highly recommend to anyone visiting this charming town.
