Went white water rafting on the Kennebec river July 30, 2012. Went with anothe couple and stayed in the cabins on site. Had a huge cabin for $50.00 per night per person. Cabin had everything in it you needed. Ate at the resturant on site, food was pretty good with reasonable prices. There is nothing else nearby. There is a grocery store across the street if you want to cook something. They also sell firewood a little cheaper than the North Country office.
Rafting was super!! The guides were great. We had Johnny, he was a super guy. Kept us all in the boat. We were able to jump out and drift down the river in class II rapids, very fun! Tipping wasn t even suggested, but we tipped our guide $20.00 at the end.
The lunch on the river was great, steak, chicken, veggie burgers, cold pasta salad, 3 bean salad and cookies. I think I would ve eaten roadkill by lunch time I was so hungry!
We have already planned our trip for next year with North Country rivers on the Penobscot river!
Good afternoon Jim. We did the Ultimate Trip on Saturday July 14th, and it WAS the ultimate experience. We had a ball, and I have already referred your company and that specific trip to a neighbor of mine in Moncton, NB this morning. We were on the river with guibe Bobby. Awesome guide. Again would recommend to anyone to request him as a guide. Though we did not go down the river with them, guides Justin and Greg (Trip Leader on Bus K1, masterfully driven by Art) were great to talk to and have on the same bus as us. Fun time for everyoone for sure. Also, all of your employees I have spoken to were great, always on the lookout for someone who may be looking for something. Great team you have there .
Will definitely go back!!! Cheers and see you on the river!
My cousin and I spent two days in August rafting with you on the Kennebec (w/ Sam & Allison) followed by a day on the Penobscot River (w/ Bob). We had a great time! We also enjoyed the ATV ride. We stayed in your big cabin in Bingham. Looking forward to doing it again! I am recommending your company to a lot of people.
Jim and the staff at North Country Rivers really bent over backwards to make our group's white water vacation extra special. I lost my camera and though it was gone forever and they found it and shipped it to me at no cost. Amazing service! We will be going again next year and trying a CAT 5! Thanks from all of us!
We had an amazing experience rafting. Our guide, Josh was the best!!!!!! Rafting was on my bucket list for many years and I finally got a chance to go this month. My expectations were high and Josh made the trip so wonderful that it exceeded all of my expectations. Cannot wait to go back again.
Another North Country weekend under our belts; and another weekend where Jim and the team gave us every opportunity to have a stunning time. 5 dad's, 11 kids, a few million gallons of water, someone in the back of the boat who loves their job even though the people in the boat can barely follow the simplest of commands, and a place to unwind after it all where you get to meet the nicest folks on the planet. Even Jim's dogs got involved as they kept me company in my cabin for a while on Sunday as I was cleaning up. We’ll be back next year for sure and will continue to grow our numbers,
Thanks for doing such a great job year after year .

We had an awesome time at North Country Rivers this weekend. The weather was great and your staff was phenomenal. Everyone had a great time on the river and more than enough to eat. Thanks Dan. Thank you for a great job and a wonderful adventure. We are planning our trip for next year already and hope to bring a bigger crowd. Thanks again.

I would like to take a moment and tell you about a recent experience I had. I consider myself as one of those people in life who love’s my job and find it unfortunate that I rarely encounter other’s who feel the same. On the weekend of June 25, 2011 this changed.
As part of bachelor party we stumbled on our company during a Google Search. From the moment we arrived and was greeted by Rachael I knew this was the type of place where people loved what they did and as a result the group was about to have a great weekend.
Our bus ride to the Kennebec was provided with entertainment…I mean safety lecture by Alice. Even Southwest Airlines could learn from Alice. She had a unique ability to hold a full bus of rambunctious rafter’s attention to get her safety knowledge passed on. It extremely obvious she loved her job and could deal with diverse personalities.…
Our group due to its size was divided into two groups between Kristi and Elena. I ended up in Kristi’s group. As a manger myself, Kristi was the type of person that I would love to have a duplicate button to create more of her. Kristi had a naturalistic ability to command and lead the group while maintaining an extremely positive, vibrant and personal presence. Kristi further demonstrated dynamic ability during our raft by providing us with local river knowledge and opportunities to challenge our boundaries. Additionally Kristi taught us a few rafting rules that all should apply to life:
#1 No holding on, enjoy the ride.
#2 No crying!
Off the river the staff continued to demonstrate great service. All being first timers with North Country, and not knowing the quality of food, we came prepared with enough food that would be self sufficient. The lunch on the river exceeded the group’s expectations. Nest we were surprised to find the friendly face of Kristi behind the bar. Talk about a “plug and play” employee. Not only did the service continue to be great, but so was the food. I highly recommend the Mango Salmon. Very satisfying spice!
Your company was found by luck on a Google search. However, I promise I will be personally be recommending your company and certain guides such as Kristi, Elena, Alice and Greg to my friends. In fact, my Christmas gifts to my family will be a rafting trip with North Country!
I know I missed some names of employees who help make the weekend a success, I wish remembered them to give them all the credit they deserve. Honestly, everyone was great. Not only a great adventure, but easily the best bachelor party I have ever attended!! I haven’t stopped sharing the stories and pictures.
