I was visiting Maine a couple years ago and my family and myself found this restaurant; wasn't bad at all. I went back last summer and I wasn't too impressed. The food was pretty good but I will say that the portions are small and the waitstaff wasn't very impressive. I could actually hear them from the kitchen swearing and complaining about people in the dining area. The restaurant manager and another employee seemed more interested in each other than doing their actual jobs! My overall experience was below average at best and I don't plan on going there again, unless I plan on spending the rest of my afternoon at a poorly run restaurant.
Small portions (tiny, even) made to appear larger with vast amounts of fries. But the thing that really drove us away from this place (which we used to visit regularly) was half a dozen instances of outstandingly bad service. The first few times we were willing to give them the benefit of the doubt and assumed we just caught someone on a bad night. But we don't like being pointedly ignored by the waitresses (that is, they look away and refuse to catch your eye) while we wait almost an hour to have our order taken. If they'd acknowledged we were there and said they'd be back to take our order, even if it was a long wait, we'd have accepted that they were busy. But there weren't many people there and we were just ignored for nearly an hour. We simply gave up and left.
This is a restaurant that offers something for everyone, unlike many others in the area. My portions have always been generous whether it is seafood (which has always been fresh), huge and tasty burgers, pasta dishes or sandwiches. It also offers delicious in house made salad dressings to compliment a terrific fresh salad selection. The homemade soups and chowders are also a draw for me. Last summer I was in and had the best prime rib that I have ever tasted. My family usually insists on the mexican pizza, which easily feeds a family of five and is the best mexican pizza that is available in the area. My opinion is that this is by far the best restaurant in town and beyond.
This restaurant was really great a few years ago. But I went back this july and It was a total different place.Food portions were very small (they fill you up with french fries). The seafood wasn't fresh and it was poorly cooked and most of their meals were way overpriced.Bad choice!
