Local's love this place!

The Thirsty Whale is just about the only bar open year-round in Bar Harbor. Understandably, it's a local's place but also great for seasonal guests. The bar food is high-end. I especially love the crab cakes. Busy and crowded atmosphere adds to the experience.

I lived in bar haarbor for 10 years and love this bar and its great fish sandwich. I have had friendly service (kelly) and the new remodeling looks great. I think it is a casual place to get a good lunch and a great place for a beer! I still go whenever I visit.

I have been going to Bar Harbor, Maine for the past 5 summers, and I'm leaving for Bar Harbor again in a week or two. Every visit to Bar Harbor means that we are going to eat at the Thirsty Whale. The food is excellent, the service is fast and friendly. The portions are a little big, but who cares it's vacation lol.

Superb seafood!

The restaurant was crowded when we were there (probably typical), and we had to settle for a tiny pub table, which is difficult for 4 people. The seafood platter was SO scrumptious! The place was noisier than I would like, but the food was wonderful.
