This spring I was visiting from California and a friend took me to a special restaurant called Jaspers. We had Lobster Alfedo and the cornbread was amazing. My friend says she eats here all the time and I will definately be back. Give them a try you'll like it.
I took my mother for a weekend to be near Bar Harbor for her birthday. I found this place called Jaspers. I hit the jackpot! This place has motel rooms and the best seafood around! The motel rooms were quaint, very clean, and very affordable. The food was outstanding! They serve lobster 10 ways! We had the lobster fettucine alfredo. Oh my god!!! We also had homeade blueberry pie for dessert and the server brought it out to us with a lit birthday candle. It was an all around great experience! We will be back!
Must say if you're looking for affordable, clean comfortable rooms, Jasper's is the place to stay. Conveniently located in central Ellsworth and only minutes from Bar Harbor.Food was amazing. Best service by far.
Our family usually goes to Jasper's all the time and the food was always perfect. Tonight we went and the prices were astronomical. $31 for a 1.5 lb lobster dinner. $38 for a twin boiled. Considering lobsters are $8 retail, talk about gouging your customers. We ordered lobster anyway, but they were out. All they had were 2-3lbs lobsters. at $48+.
We ordered scallops and fish. The food was served luke warm and the scallops were not cooked and were raw in the center. Secondly my dad ordered fried fish. They gave him broiled fish. He sent it back and all they did was take the same piece of fish and put it in the fryer. They did not even bother breading it. They wanted to reheat my scallops ($18.99), but as any chef knows, you can't reheat that. There is a risk of contamination, if not the seafood being rubbery. Gordon Ramsay would have had a field day there. Our waitress told us we were not the only ones with the same exact complaints today. The experience was enough to make us locals and our traveling guest avoid this place like the plague. It was empty so being busy was not an excuse for rushed food. Fire the chefs! Get experienced chefs in. Save your restaurant!
First stayed in Dec, 1997. Stayed a week while searching for new home to buy. Moved here in 1999! Comfortable in every way. Have stayed overnight occasionally this year while commuting to work in Ellsworth from Wiscasset. Always friendly service, reasonable price, comfortable, clean, good food, quiet, and pleasant decor in rooms and diningroom.
Stayed in room 4 and it was terrible. Shabby furnishings. No phone or alarm/radio. No sidetable. Flooring was lifting in bathroom. Adjacent rooms were filled with long term renters and they were noisy. The room was clean.
Loved the location and price! It's what we could afford. It Has a great food area right in walking distance that makes it that much more pleasing. The food is great as well, and affordable again, not over priced by any means. Will love to be able to go as a family trip here and enjoy as well.
