Union River Lobster Pot
The only waterfront restaurant in Ellsworth, this popular restaurant is open daily for lunch and dinner and serves a variety of American style dishes prepared in a traditional Downeast style using only the freshest ingredients.
We came to Ellsworth as part of our honeymoon in 2005.
This place was recommended to us, so we decided to go along.
There was no tables available at the time, so the very kind lady brought our wine to us outside and we sat on the outside and had the most wonderful view of the water and the beautiful sounds around us.
When we were allocated our table , the staff were outstanding and even though we had a young baby with us, they bent over backwards for all our needs.
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE check this place out.

The restarant looks like a shack, the touted water view is a glimpse of a tiny stream and an abandoned car lot at the back of the restaurant.
The food is actually pretty good, but is pretty damn pricey so don't expect to eat on the cheap at this place.
They DO boil up the lobsters in the traditional way...outside in a big boiler...but there are other cheaper places where you eat at picnic tables, where the lobsters are every bit as good and the prices are so low you can have seconds.
I'm a local, and I've got to say that this restaurant is hands-down the best place for seafood for miles around.
If you want to see what fried haddock, clams, shrimp, or scallops can taste like when a chef hones and perfects his recipes, try the Lobster Pot. And oh yeah, they sure know how to cook a lobster, too.
The service is well above average. The decor is simple, but clean and tidy.
Too bad the Lobster Pot is only open seasonally (summer season, mostly). If you're a local, you've already been there. If you're visiting the Ellsworth area, make sure you eat there at least once!
We stumbled across this restaurant last summer when we were passing through Ellsworth. It seemed popular with the locals - always a good sign. There was a wait for a table, but it was a pleasure as we sat on the lawn with our glasses of wine and enjoyed the view of the river. And the food was worth the wait!
