West Street Cafe
The West Street CafA(C) is locally owned and operated with care, integrity and respect for customers and employees alike. Having worked in the restaurant business for much of his life, the owner, a Maine native, takes pleasure in maintaining high standards in his own establishment. Youac2ll often see him dining here several times a week as he loves to spend time interacting with locals and visitors from all over the world. Those who return year after year are welcomed as old friends and those arriving for the first time are valued as new ones.
I am a yearly visitor to Bar Harbor and have eaten at the West St. Cafe a few times. Each time I had a good meal. That said --I must state my distain for boiled lobster(that is the way it usually served up in Maine). I had the lobster at the West St. Cafe the first year I visited in 2001 --and it was just o.k. (only my opinion)--others seemed to be ordering it and enjoying it. However, I've had their clam chowder which is delicious. Also, their scallops are wonderful-- sweet and tender in all their buttery glory. The blueberry pie was o.k., too.In all, The West St. Cafe is a nice little place to eat. You can usually get a table without too much waiting --and it is right on the waterfront so you can walk off your dinner down at the shore line. Their prices are in line with other moderate places in town--maybe a little less than some.
