The Best! Always Friendly with Great service - tasty food and reasonable prices. Down to Earth atmosphere. Our family and friends make it a point to visit Kaler's very summer and fall when in Maine.

Spent a week in Booth Bay last summer and ended up at Kalers many times. Great food, good price, nice view, plenty of seating. This is not a 4-star formal restaurant but rather a family sit-dowm place right on the water. Gotta love that Maine Lobsta!

Over $13 for fried haddock in a weird sort of batter plus fries in a plastic basket /plastic silverware -I know you have to make money but won't be making any more from me, sorry. My husband had fish and chips -the pollock came cased in the same weird, hard batter but slightly overdone.

Clammy Review For This Place
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 8/7/07
August 2007, my husband and I inquired the locals where was a good place to have fried clams. Kaler's was the answer. We both ordered fried seafood platters. They looked beautiful!!! But whe you tasted the food, except for the scallops, everything tasted the same. As an experiment, I closed my eyes and asked my husband to put a piece of seafood in my mouth and I would try to guess what it was. He put a fried clam in and I could not tell what it was. Absoultely tastless!!!! Shrimp were tasteless!!! Scallops were good-actually tasted like scallops. Fish was just okay. My husband only ate about a third of his meal-did not take the rest home. I ate about one third and took mine home and then threw it in the trash. Orignally from Maine, I know what fried clams are supposed to taste like. These were nondiscript. So disappointed! Room was claustrophobic, service slow, room noisey,95 degrees. We will not give this place a second chance when there are so many open air places to eat in Boothbay. However, We did take a lobster trap pullung tour with the owner in 2006. What fun! Best $10 we ever spent!

Hidden Jewel of Maine!!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 7/4/07
I came into Kalers after watching Rachel Ray's visit on $40 a day. So I made the 2 hour trek from Dexter Me, The service was great!! I asked the hostess the daily specials, she told me it was turkey with dressing and for dessert pecan pie and rumballs topped off with 6 nuts!!! It was Dalish!!! and all of only $13.99. I also recommend their famous homemade mozzarella sticks!!!

Lobster pie
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 1/13/07
Lobster pie was absolutely awesome - we visited BoothBay in Oct 2006 - I'd go back (from OK) just for the lobster pie at Kaler's!

Kaler's - A-yuh
By M, 6/27/06
We used to go the the Daily Catch until it went all up-scale. We actually came across Kaler's by accident last year -- it was pretty pleasant. We just returned from our vacation this year and we went to Kaler's two out of three nights. Fish and chips was good. Haddock sandwich was good. I had the crab cakes -- they were actually better than Sarah's in Wiscasset -- and no, they weren't cold. The crab dip was okay. My wife had the grilled salmon salad and she said it was quite good -- better than Cappy's in Camden in the off season. My kids had clam chowder and one night one of them had this seafood medley and they enjoyed it -- they're under 13 but they've eaten at nearly every coastal restaurant in Maine and they rank Kaler's high on the list. They also make a mean hamburger. Service was good. Waitresses are cute. Atmosphere is unique -- it's a very relaxed and festive atmosphere... and uh, more cowbell, to those who've been there. And for those people complaining about the use of plastic baskets -- really -- who cares. If you want refined ambiance, go to Dolphin Striker in Portmouth or Grandview at Spruce Point Inn -- when you want to just hang out with your family and have a fun meal, you go to Kaler's. You could also pay twice as much going to other lobster/crab places in BBH -- like the Tugboat Inn Restaurant a place I despise. Kaler's quality is in my opinion superior, on par with Red's Eats for fish-fry and lobster.
