South Portland House of Pizza, South Portland

I moved away from Maine in the early 1990s. But when I was in high school and early college, and actually much younger, I spent many a lunch day at Angelone's in SP. Of all the times we have visited Maine since I left and told my wife how good the pizze was at Angelone's we never really had the chance to try it as we were always after seafood or Italians when we visited. But in early to mid January we were vistiting with our four and seven year olds and decided to stop by for a pizza. Since becoming a vegetarian 15 years ago, I was a little concerned that the cheese pizza would not live up to the pepperoni pizza of old (though my wife had the pepperoni), but was I so pleased to be wrong. Angelone's is by far the best pizza I have ever had in the states, including New York and Washington, DC where I live. My wife and kids both loved it too. And the owner was so nice--we talked the entire time we were there. As I'm typing this I am craving so badly an Angelone's cheese pizza! But alas here in DC we have nothing even close. Really fols, try cheese or pepperoni--you won't regret it. It is the best pizza in the states.
