Norm's Bar & Grill, Portland

Norm's is my stand by restaurant in Portland, no matter what the event. If I want to sit at the bar and sip a Guiness while watching the Red Sox, Norm's in the Place. If I want to guzzle a couple of the strongest mixed drinks on the east coast, Norm's is the place. If I want to take a big group of family or friends out for dinner, Norm's is the place. And if my wife and I want to go out for a meal to celebrate an occasion,Norm's is the place. I recommend the Lamb Kaboobs, the Black Bean Soup and Grilled Corn Bread, The French Fries (homemade style!) with a side of their own tartar sauce (trust me on this one!), and the Eggplant Dip with Grilled Flatbread. A little lite on the vegetarian options but great for meat and seafood lovers. Atmosphere is wonderful with a quirky but very friendly waitstaff. Have JC mix you up a drink at the bar, just don't plan to drive home if you have more than one. This place is kind of Cheer's for Portland's West End with a large gay crowd, lots of Maine College of Art students (they are the ones with the purple hair) and just off work suits from the Financial district. By far Portland's best restaurant and bar!
