Established in 1855, this remarkable site contains over 150 varieties of bamboo as well as 100 year-old sequoias, banana trees and many other exotic plants. Within the confines of the park you will also find a beautiful water garden and tropical greenhouses as well as a nursery which offers a wide range of plants for sale. Apart from the plants, diverse artifacts and products are also on display including bamboo objects, stoneware and earthenware from local artisans and from the Far East. The magnificent bamboo huts have also been used as the backdrop for several films. By taking a guided visit of the site you can learn more about the biology of bamboo, a quite unique plant capable of growing one meter (three feet) in height in only 24 hours. Call ahead for timings.
