Focheracce di San Giuseppe
Every year on the night of March 18, as a tribute to St Joseph, the Riviera hosts a very special tradition with ancient roots: St Joseph's Fires. At sunset the entire seashore, from the sea to the inner country, lights up all of a sudden with what used to be a Pagan and Sylvan ritual dedicated to Mars, the God of War. The fires are still bearing the same magic and traditional significance they had originally. Every church community prepares its own fire in their yard, but the most attended and popular fire is the one in front of the sea, on the free beach space on the port canal of Rimini. Lots of fun, especially for the youngest kids, is offered from the fires burning the last moments of the winter.
