Cafe Matisse, New Providence

The food was excellent. The menu selections were plentiful and varied. The atmosphere was pleasant and relaxing. Overall the best place we have eaten on our trip to the Bahamas. Bravo.

I come to Nassau once a year for a month. I have dinner at various restaurant in the island, but Cafe' Matisse is absolutely the best one.

The food was good, but they charged more than the price listed on the menu. I brought it to their attention and they fixed it, but still charged by credit card more than I had approved.

We got a table at the patio. Very relaxing atmosphere. Excellent service. Live saxophone romantic music. Delicious food. Nice presentation. We will be back for sure.

yuck the 12 dollar dessert a tort was flour (ey) and yuck. Otherwise lovely! Sadly, weather did not permit us to dine out doors in the lush garden.

Everything worked perfectly. All of the staff were helpful and friendly, the food was delicious, the host was warm and welcoming. People at other tables seemed to be enjoying everything as much as I was. I'm looking forward to a return visit.

Based on reviews found on the Internet, we decided to go to Cafe Matisse to celebrate my husband's birthday while we spent a long weekend in Nassau with another couple. Although I'd read good things and the hotel concierge agreed it was a good restaurant, we were wonderfully surprised by Cafe Matisse's excellent food and superb service. Although it's not on the beach, that doesn't matter. The courtyard is lovely with palms and other greenery and is a peaceful place to dine. We had more expensive meals in other restaurants on the island during our stay that were not as delicious, nor served or presented as professionally. Cafe Matisse is certainly one of our better dining experiences.

I visited the cafe matisse restaurant on Jan 10, 2009 and the food we ordered was not tasty at all. I have visited italian restaurants like Olive garden, Carabara's, Macaroni Grill, Luciano's of Chicago and each time I ordered something from the menu the food was outstanding, flavorful and delicious. I ordered a grilled octopus salad for my appetiser, a lobster pasta with tomato sauce for my entree and a glass of ginger lemonade. The only thing I enjoyed was the lemonade. The food was very bland..no wow factor at all. I expected to be blown away after reading all of the reviews on this site beforehand. I also tasted the grilled salmon which was more poached than grilled, and the seafood platter and the gnocchi...(sigh)not flavorful at all.. no Olive Garden, no Carabara's and certainly no Luciano's of Chicago. I love flavor and I just think if I am paying top dollar for a meal at a fine restaurant I expect to be thrilled by it. While the service was outstanding the meal was totally disappointing.

This was my first trip to the Bahamas and i wanted to eat off of the Atlantis Resort Complex. I surfed the web and read the reviews and select Cafe Matisse. I was not dissapointed and this was one of the five best meals of my lifetime. I has a steak that melted in my mouth. The salad has an excellent mustard vinegrette dressing with some island spices and desert Tiramisu was simply magic!! I highly reccomend this experience. We dined inside as it was very humid that evening but the courtyard looked very nice if you can handle the humidity.

The food was delicious! The portions weren't too big and it was seasoned very well. It was a great place for two people to have a good dinner. It was a little bit pricey, but definitely worth it.
