During West End's busiest days as the bootlegging capital of the Caribbean, in the 1920s and early 1930s, the Star Hotel played host to gangsters, gunrunners, and criminals of every ilk. The shady customers favored the Star for its saloon and fine meals after a night of nefarious activity. Visitors are welcome to tour the old liquor warehouses along the waterfront road. Today, the Star has stopped operating as a hotel and has transformed itself into a popular bar and restaurant. Trinkets and pictures of the infamous visitors commemorate the Prohibition days with pride.
