Parco Forneto (Il Boschetto)
Description
These 100 hectares of woodland are situated at the edge of the city center, behind the Giulia shopping center, and not more than ten-minute walk from the chaotic Via Battisti. It was donated to the city in 1944 by the Emperor of Austria, Ferdinand II. It is a small forest containing hills and valleys, and is located between the Chiadino, Rozzol, and Longera districts. The European Union is giving some money towards the improvement of this site, this will include a cycle track, a rest area, spaces for playing sports, and paths for walking and jogging along. It is an ideal place for a picnic, and also has access for the disabled. For information on walks and access to the park, get in touch with the Verde communal offices and the URP who have an information booth on Piazza dell'Unità d'Italia .
