Dolphin Cove, Ocho Rios

We did a tour to Dolphin Cove and did the dolphin touch experience on Tuesday, March 3 through Navigator of the Seas cruise with Royal Carribean cruise lines. We had pictures taken but no one told us how to purchase the pictures. The Explorations area of the ship had no information. Does anyone know how to contact the establishment and try to obtain the pictures?

My wife and I went to Jamaica for a second honeymoon and we new we just had to swim with the dolphins! We thought the price was a little high, especially not knowing exactly what was in store for us, but looking back, it was the best money we ever spent! We were in the water with the dolphins for at least 20 minutes (probably longer) and had a lot of contact with them. The guides were awesome (typical Jamaican hospitality!), very courteous and funny. Definitely an attraction worth visiting. Just one word of caution, though. We purchased the DVD of our swim with the dolphins (a hefty $49) and when we got home the DVD only worked for about 5 minutes!! We've been contacting them on a weekly basis for over 2 months now and haven't gotten a new DVD or a refund despite the promises of the person in charge of the videos. So, before you leave the island, make sure your video works!! Have fun!! :)

The staff at the front desk was very accomodating to our group of 7. My daughter wanted to swim with the dolphins, my aunt and I chose the touch experience and the rest of our group who paid for the basic entrance was upgraded to the touch experience because bad weather pervented them from doing a lot of the activities. Unfortunately when the time came we could not sit together as a group beacuse according to our host "That's just the way it had to be"! They even wanted a name and explanation in front of everyone waiting as to why some of us were there. The photographers were also unwilling to take pictures of us as a group or one picture of 2 siblings in our group with the dolphin because "It had be arranged in advance". This did not make sense to me because other groups were taking pictures they are purchased after review. This part of the visit was very disappointing after traveling so far and spending so much. Unfortunately the siblings who live in Jamaica have no picutres of this experience. If you plan to go be sure to make your needs and wants known by the staff at the front desk because they seem to be the only ones who are flexible!

My husband and I were excited about this adventure. The thing that turned us off was the main entrance and the orientation table.The folks there were not very nice. They over looked us and explained everything to the white tourist. We felt terrible. We had to go around and ask questions. Even the guy who did the boating adventure was not nice. We were out there for 3 minutes instead of the ten. As Jamaicans by birth, we felt totally wronged. The rest of the staff was very nice.

we pucked the snorkeling adventure. it was to short! I wished it was longer. we saw amazing fish so close to shore. i wish they would have let us go longer and deeper into the ocean. there was limitations. it was cool to see the guide feed the fish. to short of a time to snorkel for the $$

I LOVED EVERYTHING about Dolphin Cove. It was beautiful. I was there in February 2008. I chose to swim with the sharks. For a little over $100 USD, my hotel in Ocho Rios provided transportation to and from Dolphin Cove, as well as park admission, swimming with the sharks, petting the sharks, swimming with sting rays, a kayak ride and riding in high powered speed boats. It was fabulous. Though swimming with sharks seems a bit risky, the staff were great in explaining the necessary steps to stay safe and at no time was a nervous because the staff just had a way of making you feel comfortable. If sharks are not for you, there are so many other things to do there, like swimming with dolphins or just being in the park. Dolphin Cove is beautiful and the staff is phenomenal. It is a great place for people of ALL ages and is a great activity for families. This was my favorite part of Jamaica. I can honestly say that if I am ever in Ocho Rios again, I WILL go back to Dolphin Cove.

My husband and I both did the Dolphin Swim package for our honeymoon in Jamaica. It was the most expensive package, the one where you get to do the dorsal pull and the foot push. It was awesome! I defintely recommend it, especially if you're an animal lover. I felt that our stuff was very safe in the cubbies while we were in the water with the dolphins. None of our cash was taken and the cubbies are in a sectioned-off area only accessible by employees and the people doing things with the dolphins. We didn't bring our digital camera because I was worried about safety, but now I wish I had. Make sure you talk them down on the price of the photos and video. It will still be outrageously expensive. Retail price for 4 photos on cd was $30. We talked him into giving us 6 photos on cd for $30. Expensive!

Go there with the intentions of spending the day as there is LOTS to do. Be sure to negotiate your price at the door as the mark up can be a bit outrageous. We got them down to US$120.00 from US$195.00/per person. Some people claimed to have only paid US$80.00. Try getting into a smaller group and you'll get more time with the dolphins. You shouldn't underestimate the "swimming with sharks" experience. I was surprisingly entertained by the whole experience. Well informed staff and awesome excitement. The food is pretty decent as well. Say hi' to Omar!

I had a wonderful time! It was an experience of a lifetime. The people were nice the atomphere was great and swimming with the dolphins was out of this world!

I would especially like to thank the staff in the Touch Encouter area. They made it a very enjoyable experience for my mother who is in a wheelchair. They went out of their way to help carry her up and down the stairs, made sure that she was comfortable in a plastic chair in the water and manuevered her where necessary to ensure that she had the whole experience. It was absolutely wonderful!!
