Oarweed Oceanside Restaurant, Ogunquit

Had a fabulous lobster roll for a nice lunch yesterday -- even better than other restaurants in the area. Lobster bisque was excellent, wait staff was courteous, and the ambiance was great. Loved it, as always.

Underwhelmed. Though the location is very pleasant, we waited 35 minutes for an anemic lobster roll and an incorrect fish order. During this time, were not offered water for the table and there was no bread basket to stave off our hunger. I don't think it was worth the price we paid for our dinner. I was disappointed and do not plan to return.

My friends and I have been to this restaurant before and the food was fine, but yesterday 7/25/10 we went there again to celebrate my friend's birthday, and the manager was SO rude and condescending to all of us, I was totally turned off by this restaurant and will never, ever dine there again. There were 5 of us, ages ranging from 43 to 72, and he managed to speak to each and every one of us as though we were incorrigible schoolchildren. We did not even stay for dinner, we ended up going somewhere else to eat. This man needs to realize is is the clientele of his restaurant that pays his checks, and if he cannot speak to them with the respect they deserve, pretty soon he will find himself sitting in an empty restaurant with no income. I will say the waitstaff and valets we dealt with were very courteous and helpful, but unfortunately the manager's snooty attitude towards us totally eclipsed that. In this economy, does it really make sense to alienate your customers?

I have been to the Oarweed at least 40 times in the past 20 years. Each time has been a fantastic experience. The food fresh and well prepared, the service excellent and very friendly, the views unbeatable and the prices reasonable. What a great Maine experience. Whoever gave it a one star review is way off base. I would easily rate it a 3 out 5 as a restaurant and a 5 out of 5 for the Maine experience. I stop there every time I visit Maine and recommend it to all my friends. Franz
