Chiang Mai Trekking, Chiang dao

My wife and I have visited Thailand several times over the past ten years. However, none of our previous trips compare with our recent visit to Chiang Mai during February 2006. We largely have our private tour guide "Jeff" to thank for a wonderful experience. After initially hiring Jeff to drive us around the city for one morning, we were so impressed with him that we ended up driving with him to Chiang Rai, The Golden Triangle and the hill tribes. Jeff's 15 years experience as a tour guide really shows. He knows all the places to see. His communication skills in English are the best I've seen in a native Thai. This skill proved very useful as a translator for a couple of transactions. Never a worry about being pressured to go somewhere, but many helpful suggestions are given if requested. His knowledge about the history, cultures and traditions of the area are truly impressive. I'll definitely look for Jeff on my next trip as we'd like to have him guide us up to Mae Hong Son.
