For Basque cuisine, you don't have to go all the way to Spain. Chez L'Ami Jean offers Basque cuisine in all its authenticity. Try the Bayonne Ham, Confit of Duck with small sauteed potatoes or Saumon de L'Adour (Adour salmon) with Bearnaise Sauce. Tourists and locals throng this place as prices are moderate.

The food is innovative, yet harkens back to simpler time. I've had veal cheeks, rabbit, pork cheeks with cracklings and all were perfectly cooked, and flavored by a master. The plating is different for all dishes and many arrive in the receptacle in which they were cooked. Very stylish. The prix fixe menu is quite reasonable for 3 courses, and the rice pudding is to die for. They tout it as the best in the world, and I won't dispute that statement. They serve it family style, and there's always enough for an entire family! It's accompanied by toasted nuts and creme anglaise. Reservations are difficut to obtain, it's very small, and worth the wait.
the food was just extra ordinary, the appearance was as good as the food. very professional. the place was small and crowded but that made it much better... i got to peek at what others were eating and they all looked sooooo good.
i am not or should say not a french food fan until a few days ago. i will be back for more.

This is one of the most interesting restaurants in Paris. the food is fantastic, with every dish coming on a different type of plate. The food is very well cooked, the service charming, and helpful.
Everything was delicious.

Hard to get a reservation in this venerable old establishment now that the new chef has been drawing in crowds of hip and not so hip locals. The place is buzzing with couples, families and groups well into the evening. Not the traditional French way where you make a reservation and you have the table all night--they turn these tables in the rather plain and small dining room. But the food is fabulous. We had the most delicious perfectly cooked veal for two, cut at the table and served with several sides, so many that our little table hardly had room for all the dishes. It is listed as a Basque restaurant, but the menu is half and half and all of it is exciting.
