Mere Catherine (La), Paris

This place is a tourist trap that should be avoided at all costs. The food is appalling. 8 of us dined here for lunch in April 07 and were served cold moules (in gritty swamp water!) onion soup that tasted of vinegar, bland tasteless cabonara pasta, and dry potatoes. Not worth a visit at any expense, nevermind the �400+ we paid!!! Daylight robbery!!

Bad food for to much money. Better to go to a restaurant in Quartier Latin. That is cheaper and better. Go to this restaurant: The Navigator! Very good food and excellent. Don't go to Mere Catharina

LIKES The rustic interior, polite staff DISLIKES Food is plain and cooked in advance, but price is far higher than that for fast food. Place du Tertre and Montmartre are generally a tourist trap. The way to enjoy it is to take a drink / coffee or a small snack at one of the cafés. Schedule your visit with an already full stomach...

Last January 7th, We had the terrible expirience of having dinner at LMC. we were a party of ten and none, I repeat, none had a good meal. The pasta was uneateable, the entrecote was overcooked, the onion soup was bellow canned food standards. etc. LMC is a tourist trap, it living on better years long, long gone. I really recommed to have a crep or even a cold sandwich before having to suffer the bad food quality of this so called restaurant. Never again.

Their standard price menu was appalling. My wifes moules were inedible-the chicken was so overcooked that it had probably been cooked the week before. Sorry,but never again

They were rude and the food stunk. Our meals were tasteless. The meats were dry. Thankfully, everywhere else and all the other Perisians we encountered were a delight.

A charming little place where I found shelter on a rainy day - a touch of oldfashion made me feel the present of the past...so delighting! The waitress was just perfect. My husband and I had a pleasant break there.

Stumbled across this place 10 years ago and chose it to propose to my wife. Reminded me of 'allo 'allo in the nicest possible way. I will be taking my wife back there without a doubt!

My husband and I make it to Paris once or twice a year and never ever miss a chance for dinner at La Mere Catherine. In fact, we loved it so much we had our rehearsal dinner there over 2 years ago. When we were back this January our waiter (about 10 minutes after we sat down) said, "I remember you two. You had your rehearsal dinner here several years ago. It was so much fun!" Needless to say, I started crying at the table. It is always an unforgettable experience.

I loved everything about La Mere Catherine. To begin, it's situated in the artists market on Montmarte, which is an absolutely lovely setting. The service is excellent (better if you can speak French), and the food is fantastic. I've re-visited this restaurant many times over the years, and it's never changed. I suggest trying the Canard D'orange (orange duck) and Creme Brulee. Bon Appetit!
