If you are a foodie, this is your destination. Have a taste of France by savouring the Royal Mollard Seafood platters, Fresh Duck Foie Gras, different kinds of meat, desserts and French cheese, of course. This brasserie finds a place in the Inventory of Historic Monuments as it was established in 1867. This place is a must-visit for its typical 19th century Parisian decor - it has ceramics, mosaics and ceilings in the Art Nouveau style.
I'm a belgian tourist and visited restaurant Mollard with my boyfriend. Tho both the restaurant itself and the menu looked very promising, we were very dissapointed by the way we were treated. No, "hello", "thank you", "here you are", "is everything ok?" or anything. We speak fluent french so language was not the issue. The cutlery was practically thrown at us, the plates were taken away before we even had time to put our fork and knive down! Every question was answered with a grunt and to top it all: we paid with a 100 euro bill for a 98 euro meal and our waiter just took the two euro's that were left without us giving any signal that we'd leave it there as a tip (which we certainly did not intend to do!!). The food was ok... But i've never ever been treated like this in a restaurant before.
We have been gong to Mollard every few years since the 70's. Our last evening in Paris this year was Easter Sunday and we looked forward to going back to a lovely restaurant. Unfortunately our experience was less than we had anticipated. The reservation we made was not noted but we were seated. The food was very good as always but the service was terrible. We noted that all the diners in our area were treated with the same indifference by both waiters. There was no effort to discuss the menu or mention items no longer available. Food was not presented as is usual in a good restaurant. Don't know if it was the fact that it was a holiday or the staff was having a bad day. No one came over to ask if we were injoying our meal. This was such a change that I did try to email the restaurant but could not get a message to go through. Not sure how others have done here but it is no longer on our "musts" in Paris.
You are bound to admire the decorative works of this place. There is no way anyone can ignore the historical
significance of the restaurant. Bask in the aura of the rich tradition as you wait for your meals. And ...
