Fontaine de Mars (La)
Old is truly gold. La Fontaine de Mars, with its old chequered tablecloths, lacy curtains and wooden doors, retains the old world charm. The ambience is cozy and warm, serving authentic French food. Get a taste of Parisian delights by digging into the Cassoulet or Meuniere. For dessert, tantalize your taste buds with Iles Flottantes. And after dinner, a wine is always welcome. Try the Chinon here. However, the items are a little expensive, so don't forget to carry your credit cards.
It was a nice summer evening on my first night in Paris ... as I strolled from the Jardin du Champ de Mars, I accidentally discovered the ancient fountain du Mars and this incredible restauraunt. It was a Sunday evening and I was able to get a table without a reservation within 15 minutes. While I waited, I sat outside with a glass of wine compliments of the maitre'd. I started with a few classic French staples, but the food is so great, you can't go wrong. I enjoyed all five courses of my meal and dessert was unbelievable! What an exquisite meal!
Although the meal wasn't cheap, I had a fantastic evening and a great dining experience and it was a good value for my money ... I can't wait for my next trip to Paris and the Fontaine de Mars. Vive la France!
We were 3 people who happened upon the restaurant. We had no reservations but managed to get a table on a Sunday night after a short wait, despite the crowds. Our meal was divine. For starters we had duck confit wrapped in filo pastry, and artichoke hearts, tomato and goat cheese timbale. `for main dishes we had sallmon with spinach and a mustard butter sauce, and beef loin with potatoes and bearnaise sauce. For dessert we had the classics, mousse au chocolat, creme brulee, a cheese plate and a glass of sauternes. Service was warm and efficient. It was not a cheap meal, but just perfectly executed, one that we will remember. Dinner for 3 people with wine and coffee was 200 euros. We would definitely go back and gladly pay it.
We love everything about this restaurant. Good food, great ambiance, reminds us of the "good ole days" of Paris. It is an "easy" place to be by that I mean NOT haughty! We dine there everytime we are in Paris as we rent an apartment on rue Cler
. Beautiiful red checkered table cloths, great wine, great experience.
Guided from Yahoo! reviews I visited this place and experinced warm reception and a lovely atmosphere. Old style with red/white curtains, tablecloths and napkins. Politely they guide you through authentic French food and besides menus they bring you board with daily food from the wall to your table.
Don't miss two poached eggs in red wine and Iles Flottantes!
Highly recommended, so don't be late or make reservations!
I used to travel to Paris quite often several years ago, and this was by far my favorite place to go! Not only did I love the food and atmosphere, but the welcoming feeling you receive when you arrive is extraordinary!
I hope to return to Paris soon, and this will be the first place I go when I dine out! I highly recommend it!

we love this restaurant!!! It is classic and old style...Like the "Paris of old". The specials are always good and the service is attentive. Don't miss the poached egg in red wine or the blood sausage if you like that. Make reservations so you don't miss all the fun!
Founded in 1903, this majestic tearoom is definitely worth a visit, maybe two in fact. Try the Chocolat African, the
piece de resistance of the hot chocolate menu. Angelina is also known for its other specialty the Mont Blanc ...
The little Ile Saint Louis, always one of Paris' most beautiful and prestigious neighbourhoods, has enjoyed renewed popularity in recent
years. Come down for a glass or two in an authentic old Paris district, surrounded by a few tourists ...
The newest restaurant owned by the Baudon family, who also owns Fontaine de Mars, Cafe de l'Alma offers typical French
fare in an atypical environment. The modern black exterior yields two floors of dining rooms and some of the ...
