Fine Lance Estaqueenne (La)
Description
As one of the oldest sports in the world, the object of water jousting is to knock your opponent overboard with the help of a wooden lance, to the resounding cheers of your supporters. Spectators usually gather on the shores of the smooth stretch of water around l'Estaque on Sundays from May to September. You can obtain an annual permit for a nominal fee and you'll be provided with all the equipment you need, including the talhola - a Provençal belt. Whether spectator or participant, the joust cannot fail to entertain, as it is, above all else, an excuse to join in a purely festive and fun occasion.
