Flanagans Irish Pub
This pub was originally a centuries-old public house in the village of Church-town, County Cork Ireland, and was carefully taken down piece by piece to be transported to the heart of Vienna, where it re-opened as an Irish pub. You won't find a more genuinely Irish pub in all the world - except in Ireland, of course! So come, visit Flanagans - it offers a vast array of beers, some tasty snacks, and for football fans - a TV that's permanently tuned to the sports channel!
First thing noticed was the pub menu posted by the door, lots of good typical pub food listed. Guiness on tap, always a good thing. Good sports on TV viewable from most places in the pub, although big screen in the back wasn't on. This would surely be on for the World Cup and other soccer matches. Other than a good menu and selection of beers (not biers), general layout and feel of the place is very good, its very spacious, yet it hides that through a serpintine layout, with lots of dark wood to mute the light and cheer. Not an overally commercial or chain feel to it, it feels pretty genuine, with good ex-pats scattered about the place to keep the vibe true to its roots. This was all on a Saturday afternoon at 6pm, in which the place was fairly empty, so judging by the closing time of 4am, it appears that the place comes alive later in the evening. Will have to follow up on that.
Would highly recommend this place to pub-types, you won't be disappointed. Its near the Karlsplatz tube stop, off the beaten path a bit maybe, but worth finding, the web site directions are very good.
