Deedra Ludwig art

Recently I made a visit to Key West and discovered the art work by artist Deedra Ludwig. She works with a painting base called encaustic which is beeswax and resin. Her work is truly magic as she collects plant material, soil, old photographs of botanical plates and uses that in the actual paintings. There seems to be a sense of life frozen in the work with all their former presense floating in suspended time.
The gallery is full of beautiful art created by a group of artists that come together but Deedra's paintings really evoke a deep emotional reaction.
Don't miss this gallery that it off the tourist route.
Helen Harrison is the owner and she is also an artist that works with nature but as 3-D objects that she transforms. One of her pieces is a womens slipper that has been recreated into part seashell, part shoe; a fantasy to behold.
