This place was pretty crazy. It was a madhouse, with thousands of people eating and drinking, kids crying etc. Overall, it was pretty fun, but the food wasn't great and it was pretty overpriced. It's a Kittery tradition, so I can appreciate it but I'd rather spend my money at a joint that doesn't have 1,000 tables and soggy fried clams. The salad bar was pretty good, but I've seen better in places like CA where you get tons of fresh fruit and veggies year round. If you are in the area, go here for fun but don't expect the best meal of your life.
My husband & I never expect good service from this tourist trap restaurant. The salad bar is it's only redemption-but the food is mediocre. The last straw was this week when we waited over 20 minutes after being seated for a waitress to acknowledge our presence. I even had to get an additional table setting because there was not enough at the table. The manager approached us without giving her name, rolled her eyes when we told her of the complaint, tried to compensate us with their tired old $10 offer, and never returned to see if all proceeded well. We have reluctantly gone in the past with friends visiting from out of state but we will never return again to this place nor recommend it to others. Avoid the mediocrity, consistently poor service.
Great salad bar, OK food but check out the desserts. One of the few places left with a pastery chief on premises. If it daylight out, its worth the wait for a waterview. Be aware that bus tours go to this place so call ahead. Parking can be tough but they have valet parking.
Excellent for the price, quantity, and ambience – Warren’s is not fine dining. I read the reviews before embarking, but then ran into 2 people who told me to go there – we decided to try it anyway after initially saying no based on the reviews. We are traveling in the Northeast this summer, so we have hit 3-4 lobster houses already. Warren’s is the best so far, but I am sure it won’t be last and probably will not the best, but I will keep you posted – the price and quality was right though! I thought the service was very good not excellent, but I noticed right away they have a process and it is volume not fine dining. If you dilly-dally on making a menu selection you ruin their system and your waitress is serving tables 3-4 down from you. The locals understand this and know what they want when they go in. You can review the menu before you are seated, but we were seated within 5 minutes at 7:00pm. The salad bar was great and constantly refreshed. We had lobster rolls and the super chowder, which was a mix of clam chowder, lobster, scallops, and lobster bisque – it was great and gigantic.
In reading the other reviews (I saw the negative/semi-negative comments), I definitely have to say that was not our experience. Now let’s be honest Warren’s is not fine dining nor do they pay their staff that way, but the food is great and the waitress we had was very good rating a greater than 20% tip. Also, the complimentary valet was helpful and friendly – much better than trying to find a parking space.
A review of the Lobster Roll (my summer quest) – this Northeastern tradition of lobster packed into a toasted hot dog roll. The proper balance between lobster and the “salad/mayonnaise” aspect – I would say Warren’s hit the right balance. A lobster roll with too much salad in it is like a crab cake with too much breading – not the best idea unless headed to a place that doesn’t know what they are doing. The lobster was great flavor lobster and fresh – easy on the salad; the lettuce was good although a little too much for my taste – the way they did the lettuce was it wrapped or insulated (like a taco shell) the lobster from the bread. The roll – the best I have had this month – split roll well grilled and toasted. Quantity of lobster meat was overflowing. Overall a very good lobster roll and the best of last 3 (one on the wharf in Boston MA, one in Newport RI, and one in Kittery ME) – I will keep you updated on my lobster roll quest this summer.
we went to warrens on a recent friday afternoon in july. The 6 0f us will never go back. We waited at least 20 minutes to even see a waitress.Oor food was cold and the chowder was horrible.Even the salad bar did not tasye fresh. We complained to the manager who was just as rude as the waitstaff.Warrens has gone down hill over the last few years and we would not reccommend to anyone.
Warren's is an awesome place to go when heading to the coast of NH or ME. They have their world famous Clam Chowder which really is nice and creamy with a ton of clams in it. There Salad Bar is always included with all of their Entrees, which has a ton of salad items! I had to take home my dinner to eat later! Then you get a key. You take the key to the little gift shop next door and see if your key opens the treasure chest. I don't know of anyone who has opened it yet! When you go watch out for the parking, it's really hard to find a spot and there is valet parking if you want to pay.
Great Food... Great location! Something for everyone!
Salad Bar is Amazing and we cannot pick which one we want to do.. The salad Bar is a meal in it's self!
