1550 Hyde Cafe and Wine Bar
This cafe-bar on Hyde Street has an intimate atmosphere and serves up good, wholesome food that will leave you longing for more. With only 12 tables and a cozy bar that fits six, it is rather small, but nevertheless manages to create a favorable impression. The menu is constantly changing, and the chef, Peter Erickson, likes to add a slight twist to the usual dishes. Try the Chicken Livers Bolognese, Lamb Moussaka with Roasted Eggplant, or the Braised Rabbit - they will leave you smacking your lips. Beer and wine are also available.
I have been recently to 1550 Hyde:
WHAT A MISTAKE IF YOU GO THERE BECAUSE OF FOOD !!!!!!
Every single dish was not well prepared from a cooking aspect, probaly attributable to the incredients (cheap stuff?), the overall taste of the dishes as well as the falvor of each incredient by itself were outright terrible. You could get the impression that they never heard of the word "spice".
This experience was true for the starter, the main dish and the dessert.
I started out with high hopes having read reviews, but evidently the quality and care went down - can't get worse!!!
The decor and setting is nice - but what is it worth if the main reason - the food - is so terrible???
