Saddleback Cellars is a quaint, rustic winery owned and operated by the Venge family. It produces 7000 cases of wine annually, and the varieties include Sangiovese, Chardonnay and Zinfandel. It has a reputation among wine collectors and connoisseurs, who especially look forward to its occasional sales. The annual Tag-a-Long, an event where wine, along with foods that go with it are served, is another anticipated event.
If you are tired of the glitzy touristy wineries (Mondavi, Beringer, Sattui etc.) do yourself a favor and check out this winery. It is small, unpretentious and makes fantastic wine. The Old Vine Zinfandel was my personal favorite, and the best Zin I had on my trip. Highly recommended.
