Latin American Festival of Pastorelas
This festival has been taking place in Mexico City every year since 1999. Pastorelas are representations of the journey Mary and Joseph took from Nazareth to Bethlehem seeking shelter before the birth of Jesús. The main objective of the Pastorelas is to encourage Latin American countries, and its peoples, to get actively involved in these Mexican festivities by performing in a parade full of religious characters - it is held prior to Christmas day.
