The pork fried rice is very good, but the fried appetizers are mostly breading with very little meat (chicken & shrimp). The boneless spareribs are good too. The restaurant itself is very nice, but the service is usually slow (no matter how busy they are) and parking is awful. This place can be a little pricey too.
The food at the China Palace has always been excellent. The service was better before the remodel. Jason has to pay attention to some of the ways his mom treated the customers. Some people have commented that the portions aren't as big nor the service as good as pre remodel. That's a sure way to lose customers. Keep improving and listening to customer comments.
I've eaten Chinese food in different cities across Texas and around the country. One of the best in this area is China Palace in Rochester, NH. It's not buffet but the menu is large. The price is pretty good: not too pricey for most meals but not cheap enough to eat here often. For $20-30 after tip two people can eat a large meal with soda (plus enjoy the free hot tea and fried noodles they give you) and still have plenty of food left over for a meal the next day.
China Palace reopens Sept. 2006 and will have more space for tables. Hopefully more staff will be available, as we have had a very small problem in the past with our drinks running out and having to stop a waitress to refill it. The decor was Chinese but a bit over done. Perhaps the new look will be amazing. Don't let these few minor drawbacks make you look elsewhere...notice I said nothing bad about the food!
I have been to Liu's restaurant, which also does Chinese, and the food is comparable but the price and portions at China Palace push it above Liu's. I don't know why Liu's has a banner saying it's been voted 7yrs in a row best in town when China Palace is the clear winner!
Update: New location looks great but the food, while still great, are smaller portions...yet the price increased. I guess customers are having to pay for the decor after the remodeling. What a shame.
Love the new bar. Lots of neat things to look at and relax. Dining area greatly improved. I love the new look. The food is as good as ever. Parking can be difficult, so go early. Hopefully they will find a way to resolve lack of parking issue. Still my favorite place to dine. I like the takeout area and how it is separated now also with its own entrance.
The China Palace is the best chinese food restaurant in Rochester, NH. People are so easy to give it a bad wrap, but there's nothing wrong with it. I went there the other day, had the best service and all of my food arrived in a timely fashion. I liked the atmosphere a lot better before the renovation, but it looks really nice inside now too. The food didn't taste all that different, still awesome as always. I will agree to say that the General Tso's chicken isn't the best, but the rest of the food was great.
I like their foods, good place, nice owner, great bartender. But, they have a few problems since they re-opened their place, their service is not as good as before, i guess they lost their old waiters, and they dont have enough parking lot.
